Hauled myself out of bed, tossed on clothes, and stumbled downstairs.<\/p>\n<p>End result &#8212; thanks to Amazon, I&#8217;ve got my copy of The Animatrix one day before its official street date. As long as I was awake, and didn&#8217;t have to actually wander out to my bus stop until around noon, I popped in the disc.<\/p>\n<p>Very, very cool.<\/p>\n<p>The Animatrix (just in case you didn&#8217;t catch my <a href=\"\/longletter\/archives\/2002\/10\/08\/animatrix.php\" title=\"Animatrix\">earlier<\/a> <a href=\"\/longletter\/archives\/2003\/02\/05\/more_on_animatrix.php\" title=\"More on the Animatrix\">posts<\/a>) is a collection of nine animated short subjects expanding the universe portrayed in the Matrix films.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite two episodes are <a href=\"http:\/\/whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com\/rl_cmp\/animatrix_frames_osiris.html\" title=\"Final Flight of the Osiris\">Final Flight of the Osiris<\/a> (incredible near photorealistic animation from the team behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B00003CY5D\/djwudicom-20\" title=\"The Spirits Within\">Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within<\/a>, and the sexiest sword fight I&#8217;ve ever seen) and <a href=\"http:\/\/whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com\/rl_cmp\/animatrix_frames_beyond.html\" title=\"Beyond\">Beyond<\/a> (nice animation, and a quietly magical story).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>End result &mdash; thanks to Amazon, I&#8217;ve got my copy of The Animatrix one day before its official street date.
