{"id":2817,"date":"2004-09-23T01:32:07","date_gmt":"2004-09-23T15:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2004\/09\/23\/derailing-the-peace-train\/"},"modified":"2019-12-11T09:12:59","modified_gmt":"2019-12-11T17:12:59","slug":"derailing-the-peace-train","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2004\/09\/23\/derailing-the-peace-train\/","title":{"rendered":"Derailing the Peace Train"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw this while flipping through the paper yesterday on lunch, and thought it was fairly ridiculous, and now the story is making it&#8217;s way across the &#8216;net: the United States is now <a href=\"http:\/\/apnews.myway.com\/article\/20040922\/D858EV280.html\">safely protected from the evil Cat Stevens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  A London-to-Washington flight was diverted to Maine on Tuesday when it was discovered passenger Yusuf Islam &#8211; formerly known as singer Cat Stevens &#8211; was on a government watch list and barred from entering the country, federal officials said.<\/p>\n<p>  United Airlines Flight 919 was en route to Dulles International Airport when the match was made between a passenger and a name on the watch list, said Nico Melendez, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration.
