{"id":3546,"date":"2005-10-22T10:36:01","date_gmt":"2005-10-22T17:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2005\/10\/22\/why-targets-target-is-red\/"},"modified":"2019-12-19T08:09:32","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T16:09:32","slug":"why-targets-target-is-red","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2005\/10\/22\/why-targets-target-is-red\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Target&#8217;s target is red"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hmmmm&#8230;suck-o: <a href=\"http:\/\/americablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/targets-ceo-is-massive-republican.html\" title=\"AmericaBlog: Target's CEO is a MASSIVE Republican\">Target&#8217;s CEO is a massive republican<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  Now we know why the target is red.<\/p>\n<p>  And, we seem to be getting a clearer picture as to why Target <a href=\"http:\/\/americablog.blogspot.com\/2005\/10\/target-now-saying-screw-you-if-their.html\" title=\"AmericaBlog: Target now saying &quot;screw you&quot; if their pharmacist doesn't want to fill your prescription because &quot;you're a sinner\">has sided with the far-right Christian wackos<\/a>, in permitting their pharmacists to turn you away because they think you&#8217;re a sinner.<\/p>\n<p>  Over the years, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmeat.com\/ceo_political_donations\/Robert_Ulrich.php\" title=\"Newsmeat: Robert Ulrich's federal campaign contributions\">Target CEO Robert Ulrich has donated<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$71,353 to Republicans<\/li>\n<li>$3,660 to Democrats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Hmmm&#8230; that&#8217;s interesting.<\/p>\n<p>  Perhaps my favorite donation is the $5,000 he gave just two months ago to a PAC named &#8220;Every Republican is Crucial.&#8221;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And here&#8217;s some info from the first link in the quoted text above, because I hadn&#8217;t heard about this before:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  Planned Parenthood has had other communications with Target. Target&#8217;s policy is that the customer can go to hell if their pharmacist thinks you&#8217;re a sinner. Target will let their pharmacist turn you away so that YOU have to go find another pharmacy, rather than their pharmacist getting another frigging job.<\/p>\n<p>  You have to love Target. They&#8217;re willing to hire people who don&#8217;t wan to do the very job they&#8217;re applying for. And their own employee&#8217;s bigotry and bias matters more to them than the emergency health needs of their own customers.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dammit &#8212; is it even <em>possible<\/em> to shop guilt-free anymore?
