  1. Where did you graduate from and what year?\n

    \"My<\/a>E. L. “Bob” Bartlett High School, 1991.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Who was your significant other?<\/p>\n

    Didn’t have one until my senior year, during which I had two girlfriends (no, not<\/em> at the same time). I was still far too shy and introverted to actually develop much of a relationship with either of them beyond holding hands. The first was Karyn, I can’t even remember the name of the second (sad, I know…). I think I got brave enough to kiss Karyn once<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Was your Prom a night to remember?<\/p>\n

    In a vague sort of way. My date was my friend Jill, and we went with a group of friends. I don’t really remember the Prom itself all that much, though. The part of the night I do<\/em> remember was walking into a ritzy restaurant (that doesn’t exist anymore, I think…it used to be right across the street from Covenant House<\/a>, where my mom was working at the time) and being welcomed by the host by name. “Your table is right here, Mr. Hanscom….” Sure, Dad set it up while making reservations, but it was a nice touch.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What was your favorite song you danced to the night of Prom?<\/p>\n

    Heh…not the foggiest. That was a long, long time ago.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Do you own all 4 yearbooks?<\/p>\n

    \"My<\/a>Yup. They’re fun to drag out from time to time when I need a good scare.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What was your favorite movie in high school?<\/p>\n

    Again, haven’t got a clue. Good possibilities: Real Genius<\/a>, Legend<\/a>, Labyrinth<\/a>, Ladyhawke<\/a>, Star Trek II<\/a>…many other possibilities, too.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What was your number 1 choice of college in high school?<\/p>\n

    Probably UAA<\/a> due to the simple fact that it was the only likely possibility.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What radio station did you jam out to in high school?<\/p>\n

    There were two main pop stations in Anchorage at that point: 101.3 KGOT and “Power” 102.1. While even back then I was starting to develop my tastes away from the standard ‘pop’ tunes, I’d usually turn into Power 102 — while it was mostly the same music as KGOT, when George Michael<\/a>‘s “I Want Your Sex” came out, Power 102 played the normal version, while KGOT wimped out and played the edited “I Want Your Love” version. That was enough to sour me on KGOT!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Were you involved in any organizations or clubs?<\/p>\n

    \"Oliver!\"<\/a>Freshman through Senior year I was part of the drama department’s tech crew, with one jaunt onstage during my Junior year as an orphan boy in “Oliver!”.<\/p>\n

    Orchestra and choir, also freshman through senior years.<\/p>\n

    \"Apathy<\/a>My junior year, I was part of the infamous Apathy Club. While initially formed by Royce<\/a> and a couple others as an excuse to hang out after school and watch movies (Monty Python’s Holy Grail<\/a>, Strange Brew<\/a>, and other such classic fare), in a feat that called question to our name, we actually managed to collect more cans in the annual canned food drive than the German Club, who had never<\/em> been beat before.<\/p>\n

    Senior year brought me onto the Yearbook staff as layout editor.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What was your favorite class in high school?<\/p>\n

    Yearbook and photography my senior year. Academically, I’m not sure that any<\/em> classes stand out as favorites…I kind of slogged my way through.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Who was your big crush in high school?<\/p>\n

    This could be a really long list…<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Would you say you’ve changed a lot since highschool?<\/p>\n

    Heh. Oh, lord yes. Drastically.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What do you miss the most about it?<\/p>\n

    Very little — some of my friends, but not much about school itself.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Your worst memory of HS?<\/p>\n

    The fear leading up to graduation that I wasn’t going to be walking the stage. While I’m generally a fairly sharp cookie, I had a bad tendency to slack off, and ended up graduating with something like a low D average, simply because I blew off so many classes (not physically skipping school, but not doing — or doing, but not turning in — the homework). I always tested well, but my homework scores were low enough to drag my grades down.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Did you have a car ?<\/p>\n

    Nope. Feet and the bus — I didn’t learn to drive ’til I moved out of my parents house.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    What were your school colors?<\/p>\n

    Blue and gold.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Who was your favorite teacher?<\/p>\n

    Yearbook advisor Mr. Lyke.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Did you own a cell phone in high school?<\/p>\n

    Here’s where I show my age — I don’t believe any<\/em> students owned cell phones when I was in high school. At least, I don’t remember anyone in school carting around a wheelbarrow….<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Did you leave campus for lunch?<\/p>\n

    Rarely — part of the no-car bit. Occasionally I’d head out with friends who had their own wheels, though.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    If so, where was your favorite place to go eat?<\/p>\n

    Any of the fast-food places within easy driving distance of campus.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  21. \n

    Were you always late to class?<\/p>\n

    Nope…rarely, actually.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Did you ever have to stay for Sat. School?<\/p>\n

    Nope. One day of after-school detention, and I don’t even remember why I landed that. I think it was for repeated instances of not turning in homework, actually.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Did you ever ditch?<\/p>\n

    Nope…I was pretty boring back then.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    When it comes time for the reunion will you be there?<\/p>\n

    I’ve already skipped my ten-year. The jury’s out on the 20-year…I’ll worry about that when the time comes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
