title=\"Emerald City ComiCon\">Emerald City ComiCon<\/a> today. Most of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/sets\/72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Flickr: 2006 Emerald City ComiCon\">pictures I&#8217;ve posted to Flickr<\/a> are of the costume contest, but there&#8217;s quite a few from my wanders through the showcase floor as well.<\/p>\n<p>Two things definitely stood out as I made my rounds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121611007\/\" title=\"Jetfire, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/35\/121611007_94db818584_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" alt=\"Jetfire, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>First was coming across what appeared to be a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121611007\/\" title=\"Jetfire, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\">mint condition, still in the box<\/a> version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.toyarchive.com\/Transformers\/ToysJetfireMIB.html\" title=\"STA: Transformers: Transformers Toys: Transformers: Jetfire MIB\">Jetfire<\/a>, my all-time favorite Transformer toy. Probably only as good as it was because it was a pretty direct rip-off of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artemisgames.com\/robotech\/Veritech\/valkyrie_gallery.html\" title=\"ROBOTECH: Valkyrie Image Gallery\">Robotech Valkyrie<\/a>, but I never cared. I&#8217;d have loved to have grabbed this, but at $225, it was a bit out of my reach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121615728\/\" title=\"Shel Silverstein's Different Dances, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/46\/121615728_e816af726c_m.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" alt=\"Shel Silverstein's Different Dances, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>The second find was a copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.librarything.com\/author\/silversteinshel&amp;norefer=1\" title=\"LibraryThing: Shel Silverstein\">Shel Silverstein<\/a>&#8216;s &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.librarything.com\/catalog\/56523\" title=\"LibraryThing: Shel Silverstein: Different Dances\">Different Dances<\/a>&#8216;, which I&#8217;d never heard of before. It&#8217;s <em>definitely<\/em> not one of the kids&#8217; books that Shel is most famous for, as I quickly discovered when I started flipping through it and immediately found a four-page spread titled &#8220;The Deadly Weapon&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121615972\/in\/set-72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Shel Silverstein's Different Dances, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA (One of Two)\">pages one and two<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121616277\/in\/set-72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Shel Silverstein's Different Dances, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA (Two of Two)\">pages three and four<\/a>, both Not Safe For Work if cartoon drawings of naked people fall into that category). While I couldn&#8217;t afford the $125 that the book was priced at, it turns out that <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2007\/01\/23\/drama-and-disappointment\/\" title=\"Eclecticism: Drama and Disappointment\">Xebeth<\/a> might have a copy that she could send my way. Neat!<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the Con was pretty much as to be expected, with the usual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121610455\/in\/set-72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Stormtroopers, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\">Stormtroopers<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121627299\/in\/set-72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Jedi Conference, Costume Contest, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\">Jedi<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/121623140\/in\/set-72057594096387706\/\" title=\"Costume Contest, Emerald City ComiCon 2006, Seattle, WA\">other assorted oddities<\/a> wandering around.
