or two (or three or four&#8230;hundred&#8230;) photos<\/p>\n<p>Well, not only did I survive my first Norwescon (didn&#8217;t even get auctioned off, either, once some kind soul told me that I probably shouldn&#8217;t be <em>admitting<\/em> that it was my first time), but I did it camera in hand. And, since I&#8217;m a complete and total photo whore, there&#8217;s a few pictures to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few.<\/p>\n<p>I was only there for Friday and Saturday, but still managed to come home with almost 1,600 photos. I&#8217;ve distilled the most presentable 441 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/sets\/72057594107675768\/\" title=\"Flickr: Norwescon 29\">into this photoset<\/a>, and I&#8217;ll spend a little time further distilling things down and putting &#8220;the best of the best&#8221; into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/groups\/norwescon\/\" title=\"Flickr: Norwescon People\">Norwescon group<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/groups\/norwescon\/pool\/\" title=\"Flickr: The Norwescon People Pool\">photo pool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, though, in addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/sets\/72057594107675768\/\" title=\"Flickr: Norwescon 29\">big monster set<\/a>, I can also give a few pointers to certain themes, such as&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:graffitiwall,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: graffitiwall,norwescon29\">The graffiti wall<\/a>. I had fun stopping by from time to time to see what additions had been made, and overheard a few people commenting that they were glad someone was documenting it.\n<p>(The Doubletree was partially under renovation, including the hallway that housed the Norwescon office and the Hospitality rooms. Since the walls were simple unfinished temporary drywall, they became an impromptu graffiti wall. Fen&#8230;er&#8230;fun with markers!)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Friday night&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:stardance,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: stardance,norwescon29\">Stardance<\/a> &#8212; specifically, the &#8220;most evil&#8221; pageant before the floor was opened up to the general public.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>While I didn&#8217;t actually make it into the Masquerade, I did grab a good spot in the photo pool for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:costumegallery,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: costumegallery,norwescon29\">costume gallery photoshoot<\/a>. <em>Lots<\/em> of <em>incredible<\/em> costumes!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:therasputin,saturdaynighthoedown,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: therasputin,saturdaynighthoedown,norwescon29\">Rasputin<\/a> during the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:saturdaynighthoedown,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: saturdaynighthoedown,norwescon29\">Saturday Night Hoedown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:starwars,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: starwars,norwescon29\">Star Wars<\/a> vs. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:startrek,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: startrek,norwescon29\">Star Trek<\/a>: While there were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:klingon,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: klingon,norwescon29\">Klingons<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:federation,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: federation,norwescon29\">Federation<\/a> representatives, there were <em>far<\/em> more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:jedi,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: jedi,norwescon29\">Jedi<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:stormtrooper,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: stormtrooper,norwescon29\">Stormtroopers<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:bobafett,jangofett,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: bobafett,jangofett,norwescon29\">bounty hunters<\/a> making their presence known. I guess that galaxy far, far away is a bit more interesting than our own (of course, given how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/search\/tags:slavegirlleia,norwescon29\/tagmode:all\/\" title=\"Flickr: tagsearch: slavegirlleia,norwescon29\">Jabba dresses his slave girls<\/a>, I can&#8217;t say that I&#8217;m surprised&#8230;)!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And those are the major themes.
