We&#8217;re really looking forward to the trip &#8212; three nights at the <a href=\"http:\/\/hiltonwaikoloavillage.com\/\" title=\"Hilton Waikoloa Village\">Hilton Waikoloa Village<\/a> with the rest of the family for the wedding and associated events, and three nights camping at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/havo\/\" title=\"Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park\">Volcanoes National Park<\/a> &#8212; and so we&#8217;ve been working on planning ahead and picking up what supplies we&#8217;ll need well ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, we picked up a couple sets of fins, masks, and snorkels, as part of the hotel we&#8217;ll be at is <a href=\"http:\/\/hiltonwaikoloavillage.com\/activities\/outdoor-activities.asp\" title=\"Hilton Waikoloa Village: Outdoor Activities\">the lagoon<\/a> (&#8220;Teeming with tropical fish and rare green sea turtles, the four-acre ocean fed lagoon is a protected oasis perfect for snorkeling and swimming.&#8221;), and as neither of us have ever snorkeled before, we wanted to get some practice time in before hand.<\/p>\n<p>We hit the pool for a while this afternoon (it is <em>so<\/em> nice having a pool available on hot days), and got to play with our new snorkel stuff. So far, so good &#8212; we probably looked like dorks, but we were having a lot of fun. I am going to figure out what to do about my face fuzz, though&#8230;the mustache breaks the seal on the face mask, so I&#8217;m either going to have to shave it or experiment with finding ways to make it work (some websites have suggested chap stick, vaseline, or some such greasy goo in the &#8216;stache to help keep the seal).<\/p>\n<p>So now we&#8217;ve got flippers. Apparently, this makes Prairie a mermaid&#8230;and me a frog.
