in the summer of 1991, right after I graduated high school, I took a trip to Germany with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asd.k12.ak.us\/Schools\/Bartlett\/welcome.html\" title=\"My high school\">Bartlett High School<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asd.k12.ak.us\/Schools\/Bartlett\/activities\/activities.htm\" title=\"Bartlett's club listings\">German Club<\/a>. While there, I was browsing through a music store and stumbled across a band that sounded interesting &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poems-for-laila.com\/\" title=\"Poems for Laila\">Poems for Laila<\/a>. I picked up two of their albums, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vielklang.de\/artists\/poems_for_laila\/disco\/another_poem\/index.en.html\" title=\"PFL's 'Another Poem for the 20th Century'\">Another Poem for the 20th Century<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vielklang.de\/artists\/poems_for_laila\/disco\/la_fillette_triste\/index.en.html\" title=\"PFL's 'La Fillette Triste'\">La Fillette Triste<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, over the years, tapes die &#8212; especially well-listened to tapes, as these definitely were. I&#8217;d never been able to track down any PfL albums over here in the states, and the times I&#8217;d looked into trying to get them as imports, it had either been more expensive than I&#8217;d wanted to try, or I hadn&#8217;t had a credit card available. This week, however, I stumbled across <a href=\"http:\/\/www.audiogalaxy.com\/\" title=\"AudioGalaxy\">AudioGalaxy<\/a> (one of the modern <a href=\"http:\/\/www.napster.com\/\" title=\"Napster -- nearly useless now\">Napster<\/a> alternatives), and have spent the past day downloading PfL .mp3&#8217;s like a madman. Not only have I been able to regain both of the albums I used to own, but I&#8217;ve also got the entirety of two more albums (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vielklang.de\/artists\/poems_for_laila\/disco\/katamandu\/index.en.html\" title=\"PFL's 'Katamandu'\">Katamandu<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vielklang.de\/artists\/poems_for_laila\/disco\/i_shot_the_moon\/index.en.html\" title=\"PFL's 'I Shot the Moon'\">I Shot the Moon<\/a>), plus much of a few other albums that they&#8217;ve released since then. It&#8217;s great to finally be able to hear this band again &#8212; wonderful, beautiful music. So I&#8217;ve been cheezing over that.<\/p>\n<p>I also picked up my next book to read &mdash; a compendium of the entire <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0060281375\/djwudicom-20\" title=\"C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia\">Chronicles of Narnia<\/a>, by C.S. Lewis. I haven&#8217;t read these in ages, and am greatly looking forward to diving back into them again. Should be quite cool.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s really about it for now, I suppose.
