benefit to the &#8220;going-back-to-school&#8221; plan &#8212; Prairie and I are starting to plan a big summer vacation during the gap between summer and fall quarters. We haven&#8217;t been on a big vacation since the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/sets\/72157602123685258\/\" title=\"Flickr: djwudi: Hawai'i Vacation\">trip to Hawaii for H and P&#8217;s wedding<\/a> a couple years ago, and haven&#8217;t even had a lot of chances for smaller weekend &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/djwudi\/collections\/72157594588117410\/\" title=\"Flickr: djwudi: Travel and Vacations\">mini-breaks<\/a>&#8216; lately, so we&#8217;re really looking forward to this.<\/p>\n<p>Details are still pretty unformed at the moment, but the basic plan is to take about 2 1\/2 weeks in late August\/early September to head down to California to visit the many members of Prairie&#8217;s extended family who live down that way. The basic plan is&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leg one: Seattle to Ashland, to spend a few days in Ashland and see one of the plays in this year&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osfashland.org\/\" title=\"Oregon Shakespeare Festival\">Shakespeare Festival<\/a> (we&#8217;re leaning towards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osfashland.org\/browse\/production.aspx?prod=167\" title=\"OSF: Much Ado About Nothing\">Much Ado About Nothing<\/a> at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osfashland.org\/plays\/theatres\/elizabethan.aspx\" title=\"OSF: Elizabethan Stage\">Elizabethan Stage<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Leg two: Ashland to San Diego via I-5. Visiting family and seeing sites (including <a href=\"http:\/\/disneyland.disney.go.com\/\" title=\"Disneyland\">Disneyland<\/a> &#8212; while my family went to <a href=\"http:\/\/disneyworld.disney.go.com\/\" title=\"Walt Disney World\">Disney World<\/a> a number of times while visiting Mom&#8217;s parents in Florida, I&#8217;ve never been to Disneyland).<\/li>\n<li>Leg three: San Diego to San Francisco, driving up along the coast. More family visiting and sightseeing.<\/li>\n<li>Leg four: San Francisco to home, driving up along the coast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We&#8217;re both really looking forward to this. We&#8217;re also starting to (even more vaguely) discuss <em>next<\/em> summer&#8217;s big vacation, as we&#8217;ll be on the same schedule again, and the summer of 2010 should see us in Alaska for a few weeks.
