Very thankfully, no repeat of the <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2001\/12\/back_in_anchora.html\" title=\"Back in Anchorage\">near-death experience<\/a> I had last time I flew up. A bit of turbulence, but now that I&#8217;m in the habit of popping a couple Sominex before the flight takes off, I was tranquilized enough that I didn&#8217;t start to panic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.com\/weather\/local\/99504?lswe=99504&amp;lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared\" title=\"Weather.com: Anchorage, Alaska\">Officially<\/a>, it&#8217;s 21 degrees here in Anchorage. Unfortunately, the side of town that my parents live on is always colder than the &#8220;official&#8221; record \u2014 and their thermometer in the front yard is reading <em>8 degrees below zero<\/em> at the moment.
