{"id":8995,"date":"2010-08-03T10:04:40","date_gmt":"2010-08-03T17:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/?p=8995"},"modified":"2019-12-23T15:05:34","modified_gmt":"2019-12-23T23:05:34","slug":"in-which-i-write-some-clever-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2010\/08\/03\/in-which-i-write-some-clever-poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"In Which I Write Some Clever Poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This morning, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Utilikilts\/134981546535\" title=\"Facebook: Utilikilts\">Utilikilts fan page<\/a> on Facebook started a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Utilikilts\/134981546535?v=wall&amp;story_fbid=141554372533591\" title=\"Facebook: Utilikilts: Utilikilts wants you to write a Utilikilt limerick.\">limerick thread<\/a>, with only one rule: no mention of <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhans.com\/eclecticism\/2001\/03\/08\/the-scotsman\/\" title=\"eclecticism: The Scotsman\">blue ribbons<\/a>. When I started reading what other people had submitted, I was amused by the rather loose interpretation of the limerick form many were using. Though usually close, many were straying from the strict A\/A\/B\/B\/A 8\/8\/5\/5\/8 meter, and one person even used a haiku form instead.<\/p>\n<p>So, I decided to have a little fun with my submission&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  Utilikits started a thread<br>\n  of clever limericks to be read.<br>\n  The meter&#8217;s confusing<br>\n  so many were using<br>\n  a hodgepodge of styles instead!\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m rather proud of that, and so far, I&#8217;ve received nine &#8216;likes&#8217; and one limerick(-ish) response praising my snark.
