A ghost closing his mouth after a long summer’s yawn

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on October 31, 2001). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

From time to time we meet certain companions.
We walk with them, we carry on conversations,
We sing the old songs, we play card games.
It takes time to suspect that something is fishy,
That the person at our side is merely an echo,
Of something that came before.

Now as the last leaves release their grip from the tree,
And the ghosts conclude their brief shore leave,
We must remain on earth.

Our new companion is winter.
And as we prepare to enter this new dialogue,
We light a candle,
And we hold on to our seed.
In case, by some miracle,
Spring should surprise us once again.

One of the few slight bummers about this past weekend was that I missed Jason’s Halloween show. Having only seen him perform a couple times at Bumbershoot, I’m really hoping to be able to catch one of his shows sometime, but just had too much going on this weekend to be able to do it. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before I get a chance I can take. For more information about Jason, you can check his website at www.jasonwebley.com, or read the article “Unholy Ghost” from the arts section of the Seattle Weekly.

  1. Lukas — if you’re truly interested in Jason’s shows, I suggest you go to his website and look there.

You might want to leave off the spam URL to a porn website, though. That little touch was a wee bit unappreciated.

  2. Thank You for info. No, i don’t wanted to spam your blog. (You have low PR :( )
