Come one, come all

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on August 4, 2003). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

It’s official — TypePad is open for business!

As a beta tester, I can give codes to twenty friends that will allow them to sign up for TypePad at a discounted rate — 20% off the base price for life.

As far as I’m concerned, the following people already have codes from me, if you’d like to take them:

That’s five off the top of my head, and there’s no guarantees that they’ll all be taken, which leaves me with at least 15 up for grabs. Anyone interested? I’ll consider people I know IRL or have already established a prior ‘net relationship with before J. Random Stranger, should J. Random Stranger stop by and indicate interest, of course. ;)

Update: I’m no longer a TypePad Beta Tester. Rather, I’m an official TypePad subscriber. Woohoo!

  1. glad to see you signed up too! I’m really excited about testing out the guest author features! I know in movable type I was able to do things like associate a different image with different authors so whenever they posted it was easy to distingish who was posting. I wonder if TypePad can do that??? I’m also wondering how the domain mapping will work. ah well at least now it’s starting. (sorry for the spelling… its late)

  2. Not only yes but HELL YES,
I do need your help, I’ve read the options and it appears because of my heavy foto gallery usage I need Plus or Pro ? However I don’t know which I should get. I see the extra things in Pro but don’t know if I need them or will use them. Can you help me in this area.
    But I’m in! I’m in.

  3. Count me in (as soon as I’m finished with school, and have my life back again). Sounds like something fun to try!

  4. Michael,

I do appreciate it – I’m honored – but I’m too much of a hacker. ;) I’ve got to be on a server where I’m free to play with my scripts. At any rate, I do appreciate it, but feel free to pass mine along to someone else.

  5. I more or less expected that, Phil, but I figured I’d at least make the offer. :)

I’ll get ahold of Tim and Prairie today.

Matthew – since you’ve signed up already, I’m not sure a code will work for you, you may have to put it in when first signing up. I’m not positive, though…hrm…

  6. you know it baby. $12 a month sounds pretty damn sweet.

on the off question – the pro package allows for unlimited weblogs – are all of these weblogs off of the same basic URL? IE if you went pro, all weblogs would be djwudi.typepad.com/unlimitedblogname?

thanks for thinking of me. :) oh, and if i get a cintiq screen, i’ll get you… a… that uber camera you posted about a while back! ah, if we could only win the lottery at the same time. ;)

  7. Kirsten, to answer your question, yes, all your unlimited blogs do have the same root as your initial blog.

We were asking the same question a few days ago and that’s the response we got.

  8. I’d be extrapsyched if you had a code to spare after you’ve attended to your inner circle. Working on some interesting music, would be down to participate in a cultural exchange if you’d like. Just yodel!
    all best
    JR
