This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on September 16, 2005). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.
A few more tweaks and oddments:
- Re-worded the post metadata.
- Added Technorati tags to the metadata.
- Added pseudo-hidden ‘admin only’ links to all posts, comments, and TrackBack pings, allowing for single-click jumps to the edit screen for each item.
- Used SimpleComments to combine comments and TrackBack pings into a single chronological list.
- Update: Replaced SimpleComments with this version that recognizes MT3.2’s ‘junk’ status. Many thanks to Yukino’s mention of this issue!
- Added small icons (yanked right from the MT interface, actually) to comment and TrackBack listings to more easily visually identify which is which.
- Added a
:hover
effect border to comment and TrackBack listings. - Comments I leave will display with a colored background to easily distinguish them from visitors’ comments.
- Lots of templates updated so that all
a
links have an associatedtitle
attribute.
And…that’s all I’m remembering right now.
Justa a small thing. Would it be possible to increase the eclinkticism text as I feel it’s slightly too small currently.
You might want to look at this if you have problems with SimpleComments publishing junk trackbacks.
Oh, nice — thanks again, Yukino! I’d noticed something odd going on earlier today, but hadn’t started trying to track it down yet. Very appreciated!
Neil — I’ll have to experiment with the font size in the sidebar. Right now it’s set to
x-small
, but when I knock it one notch up tosmall
, it’s (to my eyes) far too big for the current layout. So…right now, “maybe” is the best answer I can give until I do some more poking around. :)I’m trying to do this myself now, but I’m running into problems — see here. The signin stuff works fine, but the name still comes in as “test” ..?
By “this” I mean the openId commenting.
Hey, Michael, just a random sideways “coming at ya” comment: I know you’re tweaking the devil out of this and automating it to a fair-thee-well and trying like the dickens to make it appealing. I kinda liked the old pasty-edge “man in pink” look. It had more of a “seattle” feel and the new MT template gives it – to my mind – a very polished but – and it’s the but that gets ya – also a “corporate” look. Before, eclecticism was kind of like a garden (or workshop), and now, it’s kind of like a farm (or factory). if you get what i mean. – chas
