Lost s02e01: Man of Science, Man of Faith

Scribbled notes while watching last night’s premiere episode of Lost. Spoilers, obviously, so only read further if you want to…

• Flashback? Ooh…nope!
• They’re not showing his face…new character?
• We’re in the hatch!
• Seen in the hatch:
  • it’s some sort of underground bunker…like a 50’s nuclear survival shelter
  • greenscreen computer
  • Apple //e or //c? Kinda looked like it
  • medicine injector “gun”
  • record player, lots of vinyl
  • very 70’s music for the one song heard
  • exercise bike with an old analog speedometer
  • series of mirrors set up to allow a view up to the hatch
  • some sort of rifle?
  • an alarm of some sort went off when the hatch door was blown
• Amused at the Jack vs. John situation, as “Jack” is another form of “John”…so it’s just John vs. John. Kinda.
• Quarrantine written on the inside of the hatch?
  • Rousseau said that everyone else in her party “got sick” and she had to shoot them…
• Kate’s gone — more of that really bright light from the bunker.
• Now Locke’s gone.
• Too much time introducing Desmond in the stadium for them to just drop him…gotta be a new character. On the plane? On the island. In the bunker?
  • Hot damn, that is him in the bunker.
  • So how many years ago did Jack save Sara? Long enough ago that she was able to recover and be in good shape for their wedding, then however long they were married before they got divorced. Doesn’t seem like it could have been sixteen years, though, so Desmond would have had to have gone to the island sometime in the last few years. Did he meet up with Jack in the stadium on purpose? Could Jack’s eventual arrival on the island have been known years before? There’s no way it could be coincidence…
