Lost s02e09: What Kate Did

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on December 1, 2005). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

Scribbled notes while watching last night’s episode of Lost. Spoilers, obviously, so only read further if you want to…

Lost

  • Heh…Prairie called Jin “yummy”.
  • Go Sawyer…deliriously confess your love for Kate to your rival.
  • Um…what’s with Black Beauty?
  • (Flashback) Oh, hooray for drunk people.
    • Um…boom. That’s one way to get rid of a problem.
    • So…was that her husband? Dad? Boyfriend?
    • Ah, mom’s boyfriend.
    • Murder and insurance fraud.
  • Jack doesn’t want to leave Kate and Sawyer alone…jealous boy.
  • So — how long before each of the many anonymous other survivors get their moment in the limelight?
  • Sawyer’s delirious…and dangerous.
  • Kate’s gone, Sawyer’s on the floor, and…
    • …aw, dammit, Locke got the code punched in.
  • (Flashback) Didn’t take the cops long to find Kate.
    • Ah, mom turned her in. Ouch.
  • Jin finally lost his handcuffs…and said “thank you” in English.
    • Blast doors in the hatch?
    • Movie time! Are they going to re-show it for us, too?
  • Hey, Jack and Kate are kissin’!
    • You know somewhere in the back of his head, Jack’s thinking of Sawyer and going “Nyeah-nyeah….”
  • RE: pushing the button — this whole thing has got to be some sort of bizarre psychology experiment. There’s now way there’d be enough tech to create the island, the bunkers, and everything we’ve seen and still need to rely on some stupid Rube Goldberg-ian setup to keep the world from ending (or whatever happens if the code isn’t entered).
  • (Flashback) Damn…missed most of the conversation between Kate and the cop because of a phone call.
    • Ends with Kate seeing Black Beauty just before she escapes.
  • Finally — Michael’s actually looking at the computer equipment.
  • Argh…another phone call and I missed most of the conversation between Lock and Eko!
    • Prairie filled me in: Eko had the bible that was found in the other bunker, a hole in the bible held the missing piece of the instructional film.
  • Jack’s working off some frustration.
    • Heh…Hurley really is one of my favorites on this show.
  • (Flashback) Okay, visiting dad.
    • Well…dad, but not father.
    • The guy that went boom was her biological father. Oh.
  • Interesting idea…talking to Wayne through Sawyer.
    • Definite similarities between them.
    • Heh…and Sawyer wakes up. Good timing.
  • Eko and Locke — the same black and white motif from the earliest shows.
  • Black Beauty’s back…Sawyer sees it too.
    • Nice to have Sawyer back to his usual caustic self.
  • New film footage…
    • Don’t try to use the computer for anything other than the code sequence.
    • “…could lead to another incident…”
      • Another incident?
    • Damn…the extra footage was next to useless. Still no real information.
  • Michael stopped the clock…oops?
    • Whoa…who’s talking on the computer?
    • Walt?!?
