This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on February 27, 2006). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.
Just a quick followup to my post comparing Battlestar Galactica downloads via Bittorrent and via the iTMS: according to MacRumors, recent BSG episodes are appearing in an uncropped widescreen ratio.
Of course, the resolution is still aimed solely at iPods, but I’m running out of ways to rationalize snagging the free-but-technically-illegal Bittorrent downloads rather than the cheap-and-legal iTMS downloads. This is a good thing (except for my bank account)!
“Music Reach (1/2/3/4)” by Prodigy, The from the album Prodigy Experience, The (1992, 4:12).
You’re not DLing the HD versions of the programmes? They are available, you know. the ITMS has a lot of catching up to do.
Actually I am, right now — using Bittorrent to grab the high resolution versions. If the iTMS would bump up their resolution to match what I can get off Bittorrent, I’d gladly pitch in a few dollars weekly to support the show through the iTMS…but for now, Bittorrent it remains.
Battlestar Galactica rules !!
and I prefer to use Azureus to download
their files
please tell me if the resolution is really good
because I wanna burn it on a DVD
to watch it this weekend
Coming from someone who just went through most of the miniseries, season one, and half of season two this weekend, yes, they’re now in widescreen.
If BSG was available in iTunes here in Australia, I’d be coughing up my AU$3.49 every week.
As it is, it’s not even shown on any of the Cable stations. It was on Free-to-Air Channel 10 last year, but the second season isn’t going to happen for another year at least.
So in the meantime, I’m B/Ting it.
