Prairie and Penelope
My girl and her latest friend — Penelope, a wonderfully soft, cuddly, pink bunny.
While I’ll freely admit that I’ve never been the gothiest of gothlings, I’m still at times very amused that I ended up with a girl who’s big into the pink and fluffy side of life. Just one of life’s odd little quirks, I guess.
I’m keeping my black wardrobe, though. ;)
The Clothesline Project
The Clothesline Project is a program started on Cape Cod, MA, in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women. It is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.
There’s been a CLP display on the NSCC campus for the past few days. I stopped by yesterday after class and took a few photos. Every time I see this, I’m struck by the heartbreaking and uplifting power of the stories represented by these shirts. Incredible things to see.
I’ve also created a Flickr CLP Project group, as a tag search led me to quite a few other photos of CLP displays around the country.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Okay, so this is going up a bit late in the day, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. We took the pictures before heading out the door to school this morning, this is just when I got a chance to get them uploaded.
Hope everyone’s V-Day (or anti-V-Day, depending on how you look at this particular holiday) was a good one!
Christmas in Alaska
It took a few days, but the photos from our trip up to Anchorage to visit my parents are finally up.
I’ve also added three of the shots from the trip to the header image rotation. At this rate, I’m going to be very winter and snow biased…I’ll have to add some more spring and summertime shots in a few months!
