Wait. Time passes.

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on August 4, 2003). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

Mark explains perfectly why I refuse to install XP on my home PC, and am very glad that we’ve got an IT guy to install it on my PC at work.

  1. The link was a little messed up in that post but I eventually got to it.

I understand a lot of what he’s talking about since I install around 250 computers with XP in a summer. I, however, have gotten a little more used to it and (completely agreeing with the ‘half-life’ statement) the only thing that really bothers me is all the crap that dell, ibm, compaq (ESPECIALLY compaq) and other companies put on their PCs when they’re sold. The first thing I do with a new PC is take a non-OEM XP CD and overwrite the entire drive with it. This is, of course, because installing opendarwin with the Aqua GUI isn’t an option at this institution :)
