Word of the Day: Colposinquanonia

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on April 22, 2004). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

  1. There is a somewhat related medical term. I do not have a medical dictionary, so the spelling is phonetic and approximate. It is hypermammiferrious – which means the chest is very, very large.

  2. Hmm.

sine qua non: An essential condition or element; an indispensable thing.
From the Late Latin, literally “without which not.”

Colpo- Combining form from the Greek kolpos meaning a fold, cleft, or hollow and usually referring to the vagina.

Er, so … I leave the literal translation to someone else. Anyone else. :)

  3. I love answering my own comments.

In this case, colpo- clearly most closely relating to cleft/cleavage. Hence, “the act of considering cleavage to be the essential element”. I get it now.
