Queueing Up…

This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on August 15, 2006). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.

For the past few months, Prairie and I have been the kind of customers that Netflix must pray for. We’ve been busy, and we were getting movies from a queue I put together a long time ago, when I was living on my own and therefore choosing films that I was interested in, not films that we were interested in (and while there’s some overlap, there’s also a lot of disconnect between the two). So, we’d ended up getting movies that we just weren’t interested in, and they’d just sit here in the hopes that some night, they’d sound right.

Of course, the longer they sit, the less of a good deal that $20 a month is.

So, on the verge of just canceling the Netflix account, we decided we’d take a little time to brainstorm a bit and put together a queue that we’d be more likely to enjoy going through. I completely nuked the queue I had built up, we found three basic ideas to start from, and got a new queue set up. We’re pretty sure that the result will carry us through for the next few months rather easily.

Of course, the final result might provoke a few laughs, or at least raised eyebrows. But it’s one that works for us.

  1. Looks like a horror-able list! You must have gotten that from your FATHER! I was glad to see West Wing near the top of the list. That was :( an excellent program.

I HAVE A NEW COMPUTER! HP Pavilion PC/ Samsung SyncMaster FLAT screen monitor/ new HP printer / with transfer over of the sound from Dad’s old one. I haven’t had a computer that made noise EVER! Kev asked why I needed one because I only played Free Cell. Well, this is an example: work has been taking up the five hours a day that I am there (horrid boss, expects me to work while he’s paying me pretty well for sitting there) so I can surf at home. Problem: I have to pay attention to the clock and not get sucked into the [a phrase from our computer childhood] green screen. Although I think the Osborne was a gray/black setup and the green was an improvement. WHY DID WE EVER GET RID OF THE OSBORNES! Oh, yeah, to get my car INTO the garage!

I’m rambling. My love to you both as you cuddle and — OH! I just hit the key to so many horror movies! — watch movies together.

    Love to you both

Yeah, still a PC person. Still working with Explorer. Just an old fashioned girl, I guess.

  2. My Favorites list has this teeny-tiny face-with-sunglasses that proclaims itself as eclicticism (a truly great descriptive name for your blog and your life).

    Love to you.

  3. Oh, I didn’t tell you I was Wireless! Just ’cause Frankens chose this room as the only one in the house not to have a phone jack in it! Strange.

Mr. M&M and I love your m&m photos.
