Why in the world, when the WSDOT is telling people to stay home, King 5 is telling everyone to stay home (in between breathless reports of doom, destruction, car accidents, and OMG the END OF TEH WORLD!!1!!11), and nearly every other school in Washington is closed…what’s up with the Seattle Community Colleges (and, specifically, North Seattle Community College) staying open?
Grrrrr. It’s not just that I want my snow day — and sure, I do — but it’s dangerous out there. Demanding that students and teachers fight their way through this crud to get to school is stupid and irresponsible.
The Hutch is open today too, and I’m an asshole and actually showed up. There isn’t anyone in my office hardly–they all stayed home–and now I’m the joker that has to be here.
Why not just stay home, if you don’t have a test, get the notes next time you show up.
He couldn’t just stay home. For one, he had a paper due today. Secondly, he lives with a faculty member, who is required by contract to be there to teach every day the school is open, if she doesn’t want to take a salary cut. Honestly, don’t you think people are bright enough to stay home if they possibly can?
If it makes you feel any better I’ve got 15in of snow here at WSU and the school has not even thought of closing despite being built on a massive hill.
Welcome to my world. NKU’s population is 90% commuter (of which I am now part, as a grad student) and they never close.
Ever.
Ever.
