This entry was published at least two years ago (originally posted on May 14, 2008). Since that time the information may have become outdated or my beliefs may have changed (in general, assume a more open and liberal current viewpoint). A fuller disclaimer is available.
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, so I figured it was worth doing it again. With the number of online sites I’m part of, sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of all the ways to find me. So here’s a current rundown as of today.
Update: Thanks to Ontario Emperor’s suggestion, I now have a FriendFeed where you can see (almost) everything I do in one swell foop. Aggregators FTW!
- My main weblog and primary web presence: eclecticism
- which can be subscribed to on LiveJournal as woody_eclectic)
- My photographs are posted on Flickr (djwudi)
- Short mini-updates can be found on Twitter (djwudi)
- Any interesting links I find while surfing around get posted on del.icio.us (djwudi)
- My daily links and any posts that go to eclecticism also get posted to my Livejournal account (djwudi), though for some reason that I don’t understand, only the daily links seem to be appearing on Friend pages; and occasionally, posts will go to the LiveJournal that do not get posted on eclecticism
- My music listening habits are getting tracked in two places now:
- Last.fm (djwudi) is the one that I’ve been using the longest, and therefore has the most data
- I just signed up for iLike (djwudi) earlier this week, so it’s still figuring me out (and vice versa)
- Books I read are tracked with LibraryThing (djwudi), though I’ve fallen a bit behind during this school quarter
- There’s a bevy of social networking site that I’ve ended up on
- Sadly, I do have a MySpace page (djwudi), though I am no fan (to put it midly), don’t check in on a regular basis, and often don’t get messages sent to me through MySpace for anywhere from days to weeks
- My Facebook page (Michael Hanscom) gets more attention from me, though it’s not always daily.
- Technically I’m part of Tribe (djwudi), though it gets about as much attention as MySpace
- Yahoo (djwudi) was one of the first sites I claimed a presence on, though it’s fallen out of favor over time
- LinkedIn (Michael Hanscom) aims more at business style contacts
- Other online communities I participate in include
- Metafilter (djwudi) (a ‘best of the web’ link and conversation site)
- Slashdot (djwudi) for nerdy news
- DeviantArt (djwudi) where I’ve posted all of three things
- I use Technorati (djwudi) to keep an eye on people across the web linking to me
- Then there are the sites I’ve signed up for solely to claim my name or get access to leaving comments for one thing or another
- Digg (djwudi)
- Blogger (Michael Hanscom)
- OK Cupid (djwudi)
- YouTube (djwudi) (well, I’ve got a few videos here, but not much)
- Vox (djwudi)
- WordPress (djwudi)
- And, of course, for pure greed and/or altruism
I think that that’s just about everything. If you’re on any of these sites and want another random contact to add to your list, feel free!
