📚 thirty-seven of 2020: Lucky Starr and the Pirates of the Asteroids by Isaac Asimov ⭐️⭐️
Even for this series of ‘50s YA space adventures, a bit underwhelming. A key point basically depends on magic, and has a twist that is painfully obvious very early on.
@djwudi I read one Lucky Starr book as a middle-schooler and found it so incredibly “basic” it put me off Asimov for years!
@SciPhi Asimov was one of my earliest SF loves, but never read these in my youth. They certainly don’t age well, but there’s a certain charm in taking them for what they are.
