    • Automatic defrag in Panther Everytime an application opens a file for reading, HFS+ checks if the file is fragmented and is less than 20MB in size. If so, it copies the file's contents to a continuous region on the disk and frees up the previously allocated blocks. ➡

    • Remember the 80’s? I just took the 80's Purity Test. It's weighted a bit more towards 'girl stuff' (lots of questions about wearing scrunchies and jelly shoes and the like), but I still didn't do too badly. ➡
    • Renovation is fun! Oh, now this could get interesting. Our building just started undergoing renovation — new carpets and paint in the hallways, a few new units being put in, upgrades to the heating system (I think), things like that. A minor pain, but nothing too bad, right? ➡

    • Quotes: OS X, iPod The iPod certainly got a lot of attention when I showed it to people, including a Windows guy named Bill Gates. He spun the wheel, checked out the menus on the display screen and seemed to get it immediately. 'It looks like a great product,' he said. And then he added, incredulous, 'It's only for Macintosh?' ➡
    • One very cool weekend Apparently I have a second cousin who had a meeting scheduled in the World Trade Center on September 11th. He had to duck a fair amount of falling masonry and other debris, but he managed to get out of the area, and is apparently doing well. ➡
