Just a quick note on the relative lack of posts (especially any of any real substance) lately — having never seen Star Trek: Deep Space Nine before, I’ve finally made it into their final season on DVD.
The war is at its peak now that the Breen have joined forces with the Dominion, the Founders appear to be dying, Gul Dukat (disguised as a Bajoran) is manipulating Kai Wynn’s lust for power on Bajor to try to release the Pah Wraiths, and we just lost the Defiant in a major battle. Things are looking really grim, and I’m watching as many episodes as I can each night in order to find out how it all wraps up without staying up too late and not being able to concentrate on work the next day.
So for the moment, I’m afraid you’ll have to put up with my Trek-loving geek self, and settle for a few “this-is-nifty-go-here” posts each morning until I wrap things up with Sisko and crew.
But you know TNG is and always will be the best. It also made star trek what it is. :P
glad you’re enjoying DS9 but it never had the cast that really captivated viewers.
Amazing that once the show went off the air, it never reared its head again in any form.
As a long-time Trek fan, it didn’t do much for me… I loved Voyager though.
The last 8 episodes of DS9 are The Best. I bet you love it.
I am loving this series. I’m down to just two more episodes — one last regular episode, and then the two-hour finale. I was tempted to just keep watching last night, but for the first time in a while an episode ended on a definite “up” note (Bashir cured Odo of the Founders’ disease), and I figured that I’d better stop there. Chances are that the next episode (“The Dogs of War”) will be setup for the final wrapup, and could very well end on a cliffhanger — and if that is the case, I really wouldn’t have wanted to wait ’til tonight to finish things off!
Puh-leeze. DS9 is the greatest Trek of them all. It’s like a Shakespearean play, there is so much going on: ethnic cleansing, spirituality, Section 31, Dominion War, the saga of the Ferengis. It’s amazing. TNG is a great action show, but contains little depth. Voyager is an utter waste of time…borrrrrrrinngggg. TOS has Shatner, so that immediately disqualifies it. And Enterprise…best not to say anything. DS9 has level of meaning and profundity and, best of all, it is the first Trek to reveal that the Federation is not all squeaky clean. Funny how the best Trek movie, Insurrection, bears more resemblance to DS9 than the other Trek movies, isn’t it?
