Got it!

North Seattle, here we come!

Playing with the Gmap Pedometer, I’ve found that we’ll be living .75 miles from Prairie’s sister, and just one mile from the Northgate Mall. Easy walking to all sorts of stuff in the area. Nifty!

  1. I don’t want to be rude, but why didn’t you just walk the distance.

Going for a walk would give you an idea on Gradients and Traffic Hazards, and would also provide you with more photo opportunities.

  2. Nothing rude about that at all. There hasn’t really been a big chance to do a whole lot of walking around yet — we only took our first look at the place on Tuesday evening, and just stopped by briefly yesterday evening to turn in the applications in between looking at another apartment and getting dinner. We did drive around the neighborhood a bit, though, so we’ve got a rough idea of the general landscape. On-foot wandering (camera in hand, of course) will surely be coming along soon.

  3. Congratulations.

Will this be your first REAL place? No offence but I’ve seen your shoebox, er apartment and I saw The Pit, and neither one of them said ‘home’ to me.

And are you now closer to us? Or so far north you’re further away?

When is the house warming party and will you be serving… Margiritas?

  4. The pedometer should also show that you’re within a mile or so from me, at 168th. It is a decent neighborhood, although I’m not as impressed with the “stuff” that is in walking distance up here. Not quite the same neighborhood feel as CapHill, Ballard, or Greenwood. 130th does have more stuff going for it though, as far as that goes.

And don’t forget that Central Market is at 150th, the best reason for being in North Seattle!

  5. This is swell, Prairie and Mike. Blessings on you and your new dwelling. When you have time, would you send to us – privately – your new address? Will there be a new tele. #?

    Love to you both

    Dad

  6. Will this be your first REAL place? No offence…

None taken. I suppose it depends on your definition of “real”, and we’ve still got all the moving-in and settling-in to deal with, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion it’ll be pretty “home-y” before too long.

And are you now closer to us? Or so far north you’re further away?

As the crow flies, we’re about a mile closer (roughly 5 miles rather than roughly 6 miles)…but that’s paying absolutely no attention to roads or geography. ;)

When is the house warming party and will you be serving… Margiritas?

We’ll be sure to let you know! Give us a bit to get the actual moving part done with, and then we’ll set something up. As for the margaritas…right now we’re short a blender, and I have no idea how to make one (Prairie might, I’m not sure). You’re certainly welcome to help with that part, though!

Hey, rock on. That close, we might actually get a chance to get together at some point!

When you have time, would you send to us – privately – your new address? Will there be a new tele. #?

Of course — we’re signing paperwork and finalizing everything tonight after I get off of work, so I’ll be able to send you the new addy after that.

We’ll probably end up with a new phone number, too. It’ll be a bit longer before we get that taken care of, but we’ll get that to you as soon as we know what it is.

  7. The Pit wasn’t homey? Certainly anyplace with a long list of revolving tenants/crashers of all genders and pursuasions, and the occasional kiddo, plus the ferrets, all soaked in the tobacco stench accompanied by unwashed bodies, in a basement apartment by a mosquito ridden lake (but with canoe and ducks at the appropriate time of the year) — Certainly this was at that time of your life, homey. It’s primary requirement being that it was on the opposite end of Northern Lights from your parents!

Congrats — I think you’ll enjoy having more than the bare necessities and an electronics warehouse for your domicile.

    Yep, it’s Mom again!

Gee Mom I think you nailed it!

And Michael don’t worry I’ll bring the blender and show you how to make the best margarita you ever had and if you don’t like the first one we’ll try again and again and again until we get it right!
