    • Staying out of politics is privilege Hey, I’ll be honest. I’m one of those for whom it would be very easy to just ‘stay out of politics’. But on very real, personal, ethical and moral grounds, I cannot and will not do that.

    • Support Matters 137 of 509, or 27% of my Facebook friends, are publicly displaying their support for full equality, regardless of sexual orientation. That's a huge percentage, even for an admittedly self-selected group of contacts, most of whom are highly likely to share my general beliefs.

    • Married! One week ago, on June 19th, Prairie and I got married in a small civil ceremony at the Kittitas County Courthouse here in Ellensburg.
    • Now PGP-enabled With all the recent concerns about security and privacy in the world of PRISM, I finally decided to carry through on something I'd considered from time to time in the past, and have set myself up to be able to handle PGP encryption for my mail.

    • Shiny! Just a quick note of thanks to Bryan, Dori, Shelley, Tvindy, Jacqueline, Johan, and probably others that I've forgotten. All of you have, at one point or another, either personally or through your weblogs, recommended Firefly. I just finished watching the last episode tonight...and damn if I'm not as excited about Serenity as the rest of you are.
    • Imitation, Flattery, and All That Jazz… If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I suppose I should consider myself flattered -- either that, or there's a rather surprising coincidence going on. Update: Coincidence! See the end of this post for more...
    • MiS Day Two: 2005 Seattle Gay Pride Parade Day two of the "MiS (Men in Skirts)" weekend has come and gone. Rick, Kirsten, and Kory joined Prairie and I to head up the hill to this year's Gay Pride parade.

    • Seattle Pride Parade and Festival 2004 All the recent attention on gay rights, marriage, proposed constitutional amendments and the like have directed enough attention on the gay community to allow the Seattle Pride festivities to expand to two days, and I spent some of yesterday and much of today wandering around and enjoying the show.
    • Björk! Don't get me wrong, I love Bjöork's music, and I think she's gorgeous. But this is always what I've thought she looked like: a cross between a Troll Doll and a Gelfling.

    • Manuals? Manuals? Have you actually purchased a Microsoft product in the last ten years? You don't get any manuals. You get a 'quick start' booklet and a cyanide capsule and that's it.
    • Glad I'm not a Republican You have to realize that this was an INTERNET poll and therefore those who participated in it had to be able to read. So if you take away the illiterate vote, which comprises about 50% of the democratic base, you get these skewed results.
    • Summertime, and the living is easy… It's gorgeous outside. Sun, clear skies, temperatures in the high 70's to low 80's — and I have to go to work. Grumble. On the bright side, it should be a gorgeous day for the Pride Parade tomorrow!
    • Geek humor Lots of programming and computer related jokes at Fog Creek Software. I even contributed one — woohoo!
    • MoveOn primary results The votes are counted, the exit polls are complete, and the results from the MoveOn primary are in. Over 300,000 MoveOn members have cast votes -- a turnout bigger than the election turnout in many states -- and news outlets from CBS to Reuters have covered the story as it unfolded this week.

    • Political compass Here's an interesting online test -- a Political Compass that adds a vertical Authoritarian/Libertarian line to the traditional horizontal Left/Right line and uses a series of questions to map out your political position.
