    • The Blue Box When Kevin and I were younger, and too small to work dad's record player, we had our own: the classic Fisher-Price phonograph. To go with this, Dad gave us a small blue box (well, blue, white, and green, but I've always thought of it as blue) with a bunch of old 45s that he and his brother Doug had collected when they were younger.
    • 30 Years of Airplane Possibly one of the funniest films ever made, Airplane!, just turned 30. While I'd read that Airplane! was based on Zero Hour!, I'd never realized just how closely the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker team had hewed to the original.

We camped out at the Sol Duc Campground, soaked in the Sol Duc Hot Springs, hiked around the campground area, and drove out to the coast to hike along Rialto Beach.

    • I’m not doing this story. I wish more newscasters would do something like this. Kudos for Mika Brzezinski, and it's a pity she has to work with shmoes like the two guys who just won't let this drop and keep pushing it in her face.

    • Daring Fireball on Dashboard and Konfabulator I haven't poked my head into the Dashboard versus Konfabulator brouhaha for two reasons: firstly, I'm not a user of Konfabulator; and secondly, the whole thing seemed patently ridiculous to me. However, John Gruber has done a masterful job of explaining why this is really a non-issue.

    • Dollars don't equal votes Don't ever be discouraged by dollars. Dollars don't equal votes.
    • Geeks and gay queens Geeks are irritating [people], doesn't make them bad. They are kinda like gay queens, complete with self-love and temper tantrums, except with a fetish for finickiness rather than young boys.
    • 1602 Sir Nicholas Fury is head of the Queen's Intelligence, Dr Stephen Strange is her court physician (and magician), the Inquisition is torturing 'witchbreed', many of whom have taken sanctuary in England under the wing of Carlos Javier, and now a mysterious treasure -- which may be a weapon of some kind -- is being sent from Jerusalem to England by the last of the Templars.
    • Watching the bat I have to admit, this is really amazing — the Howard Dean campaign is posting the results of their fundrasing in near-realtime, with updates every half hour, as this is the last day for fundrasing for this quarter.
