Day 325: Just a day, so it’s a last-minute, “maybe if I play with filters it will be more interesting” shot for today.
Year 50
Year 50 Day 324
Day 324: It’s a week before con, and I have only 10 messages in my con email inbox, half of which are song requests just waiting for me to have a chance to find the songs. I’m either doing things very right or very wrong.
Year 50 Day 323
Day 323: Got my “don’t forget you’re checking in for Norwescon in a week” email from the hotel today…not that I’d forgotten. It’s officially one week from con! (At least, it is if you’re one of the people who show up on Wednesday.)
Year 50 Day 322
Day 322: I hope everyone had a good first day of spring! The weather here was great (sunny and 60° F), so I got back out on the track for a lunchtime walk, which I hadn’t done in far too long.
Year 50 Day 321
Day 321: What was going to be just another “me on the couch” shot was infinitely improved by the sudden appearance of my wife’s foot by my head. I’ve been foot-o-bombed!
Year 50 Day 320
Day 320: Green shirt, green shoes (not visible), and I’m even reading Green Mars. I think I was appropriately presentable for the day.
Year 50 Day 319
Day 319: Started the day off with a really nice walk, and really enjoyed having a day that actually felt like spring. I’m definitely ready to move into warmer weather!
Year 50 Day 318
Day 318: It’s Abyss day! The Abyss has long been a favorite film of mine (particularly the special edition cut), but the best quality release it’s had for years was the 2000 DVD release, which was a non-anamorphic presentation. Even at the time that was a disappointment, but as the years passed, and there was no word of an anamorphic release, and then no word of a Blu-ray release, it got more disappointing. As recently as 2020, many people figured that was all we’d ever get. So it’s quite exciting to finally have it released and in my hands!
Amusingly, it’ll likely be next weekend before I actually watch it. My only 4K drive is attached to my computer, and I use it to rip movies, not watch them directly. So before I can watch it, I have to get it onto my media server, and my particular process is, admittedly, somewhat time-consuming (rip both versions of the film in both 4K and HD, plus all the special features in whatever quality they are, extract the subtitles from all of them, OCR and correct the subtitles, compress the .mkv files to .m4p, and move everything onto the media server). I’ve waited 24 years for a better release, I can wait another week.
Year 50 Day 317
Day 317: Happy π Day! I don’t have any math or pie-themed shirts, but I do have this one with π-napples!
Year 50 Day 316
Day 316: While still not as warm as I’d like, the weather has improved some. And while having to head to IT to get a Chromebook logged into our WiFi network wasn’t the most exciting way to spend half an hour, it did briefly get me out into the sun!
