    • Spider Man 2 Overall, Spider Man 2 is a lot of fun. Walking home and turning it over in my head, I kept coming back to the same basic thoughts I had about Spider Man. I'm not quite as wild about Spider Man 2 as I was about the first — but there are some definite similarities. ➡

To go with this, Dad gave us a small blue box (well, blue, white, and green, but I've always thought of it as blue) with a bunch of old 45s that he and his brother Doug had collected when they were younger. ➡
    • 30 Years of Airplane Possibly one of the funniest films ever made, Airplane!, just turned 30. While I'd read that Airplane! was based on Zero Hour!, I'd never realized just how closely the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker team had hewed to the original. ➡

    • Geeks and gay queens Geeks are irritating [people], doesn't make them bad. They are kinda like gay queens, complete with self-love and temper tantrums, except with a fetish for finickiness rather than young boys. ➡
    • 1602 Sir Nicholas Fury is head of the Queen's Intelligence, Dr Stephen Strange is her court physician (and magician), the Inquisition is torturing 'witchbreed', many of whom have taken sanctuary in England under the wing of Carlos Javier, and now a mysterious treasure -- which may be a weapon of some kind -- is being sent from Jerusalem to England by the last of the Templars. ➡

    • Office Depot bootlegs I stopped by the downtown Seattle Office Depot on lunch to do some coveting, and had to wonder how customers were expected to compare the quality of the various LCD displays when they were all playing a highly-compressed video of music videos taken from CMT's broadcast stream. ➡

    • NYT interview with Ron P. Reagan There's a very interesting interview with Ron P. Reagan (President Reagan's son) in the Times today. I like the way this man thinks. ➡

    • Red wine Regardless of how Apple corporate wants to portray its products, the Mac isn't a machine for the masses any more than red wine is the preferred beverage at baseball games. To be honest, the masses don't have the capability to appreciate the elegance and depth of this platform. ➡
    • Dean supporters at Pride Day It was nice to see a good contingent of Dean supporters out and about during the festivities today. I've got a few pictures of them, but they're pretty buried in the photo album, so here's some direct links… ➡

    • Apple announcements at WWDC 2004 Somehow in all of the weekend's festivities, I'd managed to completely space that this week was the 2004 WWDC (and I call myself a Mac geek?), so coming home to start finding reports of new toys from Apple was a very pleasant surprise. ➡
    • Orchids One thing I stumbled across this weekend that I'd never seen before was the Volunteer Park Conservatory, which has five different sections filled with all manner of plants, from cacti to orchids. I'll definitely want to head back up that way again and try to get some better shots, but for now… ➡
    • Sunburn Even with sunscreen, I think six hours in the sun for yesterday's Pride events was a bit much. ➡

    • Seattle Pride Parade and Festival 2004 All the recent attention on gay rights, marriage, proposed constitutional amendments and the like have directed enough attention on the gay community to allow the Seattle Pride festivities to expand to two days, and I spent some of yesterday and much of today wandering around and enjoying the show. ➡
    • Björk! Don't get me wrong, I love Bjöork's music, and I think she's gorgeous. But this is always what I've thought she looked like: a cross between a Troll Doll and a Gelfling. ➡

    • Glad I'm not a Republican You have to realize that this was an INTERNET poll and therefore those who participated in it had to be able to read. So if you take away the illiterate vote, which comprises about 50% of the democratic base, you get these skewed results. ➡

    • MoveOn primary results The votes are counted, the exit polls are complete, and the results from the MoveOn primary are in. Over 300,000 MoveOn members have cast votes -- a turnout bigger than the election turnout in many states -- and news outlets from CBS to Reuters have covered the story as it unfolded this week. ➡

    • 'Hands-free' isn't accident free I've got a habit of hanging up on people if I know that they're calling me from a cell phone in their car. I've been grumbled at this on more than a few occasions, especially lately when they can use the excuse that they're using a 'hands free' headset, so they don't have to have one hand on the phone. I'll still get off the phone — I've never believed that jabbering on a cell phone while driving, with or without a headset, is safe. ➡
    • Quickies! Of primary interest, however, is the public unveiling of a drink I came up with a few years back, and had been quite popular among my friends since then. We've just finally given it a name: Quickie! ➡
