Included are recordings of William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and many, many more beat-era poets, writers, and personalities. Incredibly cool. Right now, I'm downloading a 1980 William S. Burroughs lecture on public discourse. ➡

    • Bachelor Week I'm a bachelor for the next week! I just dropped Prairie off at the airport, sending her down to Palm Springs, CA to visit her dad. They'll be spending a few days there closing up her grandparents' winter home, then driving back up the coast, and she should be back next Saturday at some point. ➡

    • In retrospect, this was really stupid. Looking back, this post from Oct. 25, 2001 -- almost exactly two years before the brouhaha at Microsoft -- stands out as quite likely the stupidest post I've ever made, and one that could potentially have gotten me fired for _far_ better reasons than that silly photo. ➡
    • Free Wi-Fi for my apartment? Today on my way home for lunch I saw a work crew installing one of the Wi-Fi antennas on a lamppost on the 8th Avenue bridge over Freeway Park. Now I'm starting to wonder if my building just might end up with free Wi-Fi access provided by the City of Seattle. ➡
    • Flickr Badge in Weblog Posts I started experimenting with whether it was possible to place badges into my weblog posts where appropriate. For instance, a post about a specific event could include a badge displaying photos from that event's Flickr photo set or group pool. ➡
    • Pride leaving Broadway? Interesting bit of controversy going on in Seattle's gay community right now, as the annual Pride Parade has grown so much that organizers want to move it to downtown and the Seattle Center for next year. ➡
    • I never would have guessed On CNN this morning: College towns lead in marijuana use. Must be a slow news day. ➡

    • Dismemberment sells! Hardly my most artistic photo, but then, it wasn't really meant to be — I just thought the window display was hilarious, in a somewhat disturbing sort of way. Selling handbags, okay. Selling handbags with dismembered arms, though, I'm just not entirely sure about. ➡

    • Roe vs. Wade…vs. McCorvey? The former plaintiff known as 'Jane Roe' in the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized abortion sought to have the case overturned in a motion filed Tuesday that asks the courts to consider new evidence that abortion hurts women. ➡
    • Congratulations Reed and Kerry! Tienna Vie Judd Dyer was born on June 16th at 11:45pm wieghing 6.5lbs. Kerry is in good health and I will E-mail pics of Tienna as soon as I get them. ➡

    • Has Kevin been keeping track? While my tv situation doesn't allow me to catch any of the games, I've been trying to keep an eye out for articles on the World Cup, and woke up this morning to a nice surprise -- the US beat Mexico 2-0, and are advancing to the quarter-finals! ➡
    • Terrorrism of the future When activated, this I-Bomb creates an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) that destroys all electronic equipment, yet is physically harmless to structures or living beings. ➡
