The only comment given by my teacher was, "superb," and I got a 3.9/4.0, or 95/100 -- it would have been perfect, except that I forgot to include a 'memo of self-reflection.' Oops. Still, I think I can cope with the final grade. ➡

    • New camera! The day finally came when I had enough funds available to replace the camera I lost nearly a year ago. My new toy: a Canon Powershot A95. ➡
    • You just can’t sing in the supermarket… What a blast. This world needs more random silliness in it from time to time, and we had a lot of fun being part of this particular bit of randomness. Much giggling and many smiles from everyone in the group and from whatever customers happened to be around in each store -- just the thing for a grey winter day in Seattle. ➡

    • Time to get nekkid! Here I've been doing my best to keep this weblog of mine fairly solidly PG-rated, with the occasional slip into PG-13, and now I find that if only I'd shown some skin, I might have been eligible for the First Annual Nude Weblog Awards! ➡
    • Vonnegut weighs in on Iraq I myself feel that our country, for whose Constitution I fought in a just war, might as well have been invaded by Martians and body snatchers. Sometimes I wish it had been. What has happened, though, is that it has been taken over by means of the sleaziest, low-comedy, Keystone Cops-style coup detat imaginable. And those now in charge of the federal government are upper-crust C-students who know no history or geography, plus not-so-closeted white supremacists, aka Christians, and plus, most frighteningly, psychopathic personalities, or 'PPs.' ➡

In the midst of a big list of upcoming 4K releases, The Digital Bits has this to say about Star Trek: The Motion Picture:

A lot of you are likely wondering about the classic Star Trek films on 4K, including the long-awaited (and occasionally teased) Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Director’s Edition. What I can tell you is that this is a big project but things are moving in a positive direction, if very slowly. So don’t give up; this one is going to require some patience. But do take every opportunity you have via social media to let the studio know that you really want #sttmp40 on physical 4K Ultra HD. Positive mojo can only help.

    • I need a drool cup Oh my lord. Apple just revamped their desktop line and dropped prices — severely — on their monitors. ➡
    • An honest job application Rick sent me this a long time ago, and having job stuff on my brain, I remembered it and dug it out to post here. What follows is (at least in theory) an actual job application submitted to McDonald's by a 17 year old applicant. He got the job. ➡

Tonight I got e-mailed details on four job openings for the upcoming Bellevue store, and decided what the heck — it's worth a shot! So, I've applied for two of the positions: Mac Specialist and Mac Genius. ➡

As fascinating as the first book, this tale of invasion broadens the scope, giving more detail on the alien invaders and moving to a multiple viewpoint narrative. Really enjoying this series.

    • Microsoft Excel .xls and .xlsx weirdness I've been attempting to troubleshoot some issues with sending Excel files back and forth between my Mac at home and a professor who uses a Mac at home and a Windows PC at school. Even though we're both using current versions of Excel, and though the files opened fine on her Mac, she was having consistent problems on the Windows machine. ➡

I downloaded his mix and liked it a lot. Curious by that point, I decided to see if I could track down the original version to see what Kory had started with. ➡
    • Reminder – DJ Wüdi mixes Just a quick reminder for those of you who may be new to my site, and might not have bounced around some of the rest of what I have up here. Over on my DJ Wüdi propaganda page, I have eleven mix sessions available for download as .mp3 files.     • MT upgrades I've just added a new plug-in to MovableType — SmartyPants. It's a relatively minor thing, but one that's nice to have — it automatically converts common characters into their typographically-correct versions. I've also hacked into the code to build TrackBack pings as they happen, speeding up individual page requests. ➡
