    • The application is in! Well, we've gone and done it -- we turned in the application for the apartment we looked at yesterday. If all goes well, we should hear back by midday tomorrow...and with luck, we'll get the go and have our new place! ➡
    • The Search Has Begun… Prairie and I looked at an apartment yesterday evening up in North Seattle (just off the 130th St. exit from I-5) that looks really good. We're keeping our fingers crossed, but at least judging by yesterday's showing, things are looking very promising. Yay! ➡

    • Starship and Kickshaw If you get a chance to see Starship perform, and it's cheap, and you don't have anything pressing going on, it's not a bad show. Now, if you get a chance to see Kickshaw perform, you should, with absolutely no qualifications whatsoever. ➡

    • Nikon D80 Revealed Just a few months after getting my D70s, Nikon's wrapped up their 20-day teaser campaign by introducing the Nikon D80. Overall, it looks _really_ good -- the only thing I see that doesn't really excite me is that the D80 uses SD rather than Compact Flash, but it makes sense given SD's dominance of the small camera market. ➡

    • Tyger, Tyger, Burning Bright… A few weeks ago, Prairie had a Monday off and was able to come out to the Vogue's Sunday Fetish night with me. While we were there, we heard a very nice track that caught our ear, with a slow, driving tempo, pulsing drums, and using William Blake's The Tyger as its lyrics. ➡
    • The Worst One of All Scoble's looking for websites that install nasty crap onto your computer to see how Vista responds. I was going to suggest www.microsoft.com, but he's already been bit by that bug. ;) ➡
    • Pre-release bloopers While there's a certain amusement to all of this, what really struck me was that in this internet-centric age, fans are able to catch bloopers in movies _before_ the movies are even finished -- and in this case, possibly allowing the studio to correct the error before the final film is released. Pretty amazing. ➡

    • National Preparedness Month: September 2004 Coming this September, on the three-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks: National Preparedness Month. Because the prior 35 months were all about slacking off and letting the terrorists win, apparently? ➡

    • Condolences Over the course of the past few days, Jessica Wilkinson, a regular member at the Vogue, went missing. Yesterday, her family officially filed a missing persons report with the police, and word started spreading around the various Seattle communities. Last night, the police contacted her family to let them know that she had passed away in her apartment. Nothing else is known at this point. ➡

    • Photo Op? Or attempted murder? Pratridiot Watch takes Bush to task for using the recent security alerts as a photo op for Laura and the twins. Actually, I think that's entirely the wrong way to look at it. It wasn't a photo op — Bush was actually just hoping the terrorists would attack, killing his wife and children in the process, so he could play upon the sympathies of the nation's people to re-elect him next November. ➡

In short, it's woefully incomplete, and at times, flat-out inaccurate. It was quite heartening for me to run across Jazz in 2500?, a jazz-lovers look at the disservice done to music when only the least possible information is preserved when purchasing music online. ➡
    • Ballard Locks Photo Workshop So yesterday was the big photo gathering at the Locks. Prairie and I picked up her sister Hope and then headed out, eventually getting there about an hour into the event. As I'd never been to the Locks before, I wasn't entirely sure where to go at first, so we just started following the paths and wandering around. It wasn't long before we stumbled across a fairly large group with a higher-than-average ratio of cameras… ➡
