The usual unplanned, random selection of whatever seems right in the moment.

Difficult Listening Hour 2021.05.01
Since it was just a couple days before my birthday, I went a bit all over the map with this one, as I worked through some of the tracks I’ve had set aside to play but which haven’t quite fit into recent weeks. A bit more eclectic than usual, is what I’m saying.
Difficult Listening Hour 2020.11.28: Thank(s)/giv(e/ing)
Every track has “thank”, “give”, or “giving” in the title. Thematically and lyrically, few if any are particularly Thanksgiving-related, and it’s a mishmash of styles and genres. Happy Thanksgiving!
Difficult Listening Hour 2020.07.04: America 2020 Edition
To celebrate All Countries Matter day, a (somewhat cynical) genre-spanning selection of songs for the Fourth of July.
If you’re American and will be 18 or older in November: Make sure you’re registered to vote, and vote this November. We could be so much better than we are right now.
Difficult Listening Hour 2020.05.30
Week fifteen of my unplanned, unrehearsed, seat-of-the-pants goofing around. As a way of getting back into practice and doing something regularly, I’ve started doing regular Twitch broadcasts, now on Saturday mid-mornings. These are the results. Anything goes.
Difficult Listening Hour 2020.05.23: Bombtime!
I’ve apparently fallen into the habit of doing some sort of themed set every third week. This week started when I realized how many songs I had with “bomb” in the title, and decided to see what I could do with that….
Bumbershoot 2004 lineup
The Bumbershoot 2004 lineup has been announced. Sweet. Quite a few big names catch my eye and will be fun to see, but I’m also looking forward to discovering a few new acts that I might not have heard of otherwise (I find at least one or two more each year).
Just calling out a few that catch my interest…
Friday: The Clumsy Lovers
Saturday: Seal, Nancy Sinatra, Robyn Hitchcock
Sunday: Public Enemy
Monday: The Pixies, Toots and the Maytals (Kevin just played some of their stuff for me on his way through last weekend), Critters Buggin’
Not as many “must see” acts as there have been in the past few years for me, all in all. In fact, the only one to really make me sit up and get excited was Public Enemy. Still, it’s certainly not a bad initial list of possibilities, and as I said before, it’s the unexpected discoveries that can be the most fun.
iTunes: “Pine Effect” by µ-Ziq from the album In Pine Effect (1995, 4:51).
