Moving into our fourth month of COVID-19 induced restrictions and “shelter in place” recommendations, I think a lot of people are getting a little frisky. So here’s two hours of tunes that could be considered either entirely appropriate or entirely inappropriate for the situation, depending on your point of view.
On This Day: Jun 14
Since I’ll hit 20 years of blogging this November, this year I’m posting a daily list of anything I published on this day in the past.

- Year 50 Day 43 Yes, this is a 'didn't take a photo earlier, so I'm playing with filters' day. It happens! ➡

- Oh crap, can you see… We're at a point where if someone's displaying an American flag, we assume they're probably not someone we want to associate with -- that it's a display of nationalism, not patriotism. ➡
- 2016
- 2014
- Cuddled up and watching the opening match of the World Cup (Brazil v. Croatia). ➡
- 2007
- Summertime! A number of updates this evening...summertime, no more school, new computers, and new weblogs. ➡
- 2006
- 2nd Quarter done! The last quiz in my music class was last week; the last test in my math class was this morning. As of now, I'm done with my second quarter of college, and it's officially summertime! :) ➡
- 2005
- I can dream… Today, one of Seattle's newspapers (I don't remember which) had a huge headline across the top of the page: JACKSON FREE ➡
- LiveJournal Oddness Also, a quick note out to the other 22 LiveJournal users out there who are subscribed to the woody_eclectic feed -- I didn't set it up, so I usually don't know when it goes wonky, and I don't get any comments you might leave on the posts in the feed. ➡
- iPhoto Quandries A few questions about iPhoto -- things that don't make sense to me. Why can't I export items that are on a burned DVD? When I drag photos from an archive on DVD into my local photo library, why can't iPhoto keep track of the correct tags? Why does iPhoto have to update an archive's database every time it's loaded? ➡
- Less nudity, more polka On our wandering we went through the Pike Place Market, and as we were in the lower levels, something in the bins of a used music store caught my eye. I stopped, backed up, pulled the record out of the bin...and started to laugh. ➡
- 2004
- Skim! Skim like mad! Nine hundred and thirteen posts to work through before I'm caught up (and, since there's no way I'll make it through all that by the time I crash out tonight, there will just be more added to the pile tomorrow morning). ➡
- Stories too good to be true I just watched an absolutely fascinating film — Shattered Glass. It's the story of Stephen Glass, the New Republic reporter who in 1998 was outed as having fabricated everything from minor details to entire stories during his tenure at the New Republic. ➡
- Blogger Anon-O-Con Thanks to all who I met at the Seattle Blogger Anon-O-Con on Saturday! ➡
- Saved! As Roger Ebert points out in his review, the film is '…arguing not against fundamentalism but against intolerance; it argues that Jesus would have embraced the cast-outs and the misfits, and might have leaned toward situational ethics instead of rigid morality.' ➡
- 2002
- tetris is so unrealistic A jet going 100 m.p.h. slammed into a deer, which ruptured a wing fuel tank and dumped 70 gallons of gas on the runway. ➡
- Short attention span voyeurism It's really hard not to go up to an intern in the middle of surgery and say, 'Don't freak out, but you're doing that all wrong.' I try not to do it if the patient's only under local. ➡
- Not in Our Name There is a deadly trajectory to the events of the past months that must be seen for what it is and resisted. Too many times in history people have waited until it was too late to resist. ➡

- I’m in an Australian Hip-Hop Music Video! If you were to watch the video for 'Chase That Feeling' by the Hilltop Hoods, just past the one minute mark, the camera pans down over the top of a desk, and sitting on that desk is a very familiar family portrait... ➡
- 2007
- THE Final Exam **PUBLIC SPEAKING:** 2,500 riot-crazed aborigines are storming the classroom. Calm them. You may use any ancient language except Latin or Greek. ➡
- Frahnk-en-steeeen! In the vein of The Producers, Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein is being turned into a stage musical. As is becoming something of a trend , the show is premiering here in Seattle before opening on Broadway. And Prairie and I have tickets for opening night. ➡
- 2006
- Best. Costumes. EVAR. Seriously -- I think these may be my favorite convention costumes ever. Spotted by artvixn at Baycon 2006. ➡
- 2005
- Text-only individual archives in Movable Type When I was first investigating Markdown, one of the things that caught my eye was the ability to see the 'source' for any of the pages by simply replacing the `.html` extension with `.text`. I'd been wondering if it would be possible to pull such a trick for my site for a while, and got it figured out tonight. ➡
- 2003
- Viagra gum? Wm. Wrigley Jr., maker of Juicy Fruit, Big Red and Doublemint gums, is expanding its definition of 'doubling your pleasure.' The Chicago gum company has been granted a U.S. government patent to develop a gum that contains a dose of the generic chemical in Viagra. ➡
- Heroes Except in the life of a hero, the whole world is meaningless. ➡
- The greatest American is… So, out of a completely open playing field, what ten people were nominated as the ten greatest Americans ever? ➡
- 2002
- ‘I drank what???’ Incidentally, each of these movies has the distinction of having one of my first 'movie star crushes' -- Mia Sara in Legend, and Michelle Meyrink as Jordan in Real Genius. ➡
- It is so hot out! Where a week ago Seattle was setting record low temperatures, this week things have done a complete 180, and from what I hear we're pushing record highs for this time of year. ➡
- This is where it starts Constituion? Rights? What are you talking about? Those don't exist in the USA anymore. ➡
- Mentally 19? According to the What's your mental age? test, I'm mentally 19. It's a bit of a shame that it doesn't give any sort of justification or reasoning for that, but hey -- good to know, I suppose. ➡
- Naked over your clothes I'd almost love to see a group of 10 to 20 people walking down the street wearing this stuff, just to see how much confusion and consternation it would cause! ➡

- Thanks everyone for your notes (comments, likes, hearts, etc.) on my hooding ceremony picture and yesterday’s with Mom and Dad. It’s been a very nice weekend. For tonight, I’m being amused at our little exercise trampoline acting as a silly halo. (164/366) ➡

- If this country fails I think that what drives me to keep going is the knowledge that if this country fails, then a beacon for the world is lost. And this country is headed for failure under this president. ➡
- Habits Certain events must be described as 'fuckin' awesome.' ➡
- But what about the kittens? Logic, of course, can be skewed terribly when your premise is a theory based on the Lord being a female kitten. ➡
- Speakeasy needs a laxative! we are awaiting the new upgrade switch to be thrown deep within the bowels of speakeasy. once this bowel movement is finished please credit the customer a month of service. they have agreed to recontract if we do this favor for them. it's like a new order, only it's an old order with a funny hat on. ➡

- Who's who in the blogging world A simple guide to the A-list bloggers is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek introduction to the "big names" of weblogging. ➡
- More impeachment talk It seems to me that impeachment isn't unrealistic to at least consider, at this point. As has been quoted here before: Bush lied. People died. ➡
- Slipping through the cracks With all those reporters covering politics and government in Washington and around the country, you would think that the press would be watching the powerful on behalf of the people pretty persistently. But you would be wrong. ➡
- Like I think, like, I want to, like, ban the word, like, 'like,' from the English, like, language. ➡
- Alexandar Diego Soli And so to assert the existence of the self is therefore a sin, the worst of sins; therefore it is better to cut out one's tongue than to speak the word 'I.' ➡

- Gambit Look out and lock up your daughters, everyone, we're in the presence of Remy LeBeau. That's right, you're that smooth-talkin' Cajun boy with a flare for making women swoon and a great love for all things shiny and steal-able. Sure, you're forever on the run from your past, but there's no reason why you can't run from it in style, oui? ➡

- Missing: One Pink Monkey At some point over the past few days, it appears that someone ducked into our car after we'd forgotten to lock the doors. Thankfully, they didn't take much -- what they _did_ take was this cute little monkey. ➡
- 2005
- Prices keep going up The clerk scanned the soda, then the water...and then we both started laughing when the register displayed a total of $520,007.00. That's some _expensive_ groceries. ➡

- To my friends old and new, family born into or chosen, and loved ones however defined: you’re valid, valued, and loved, and my world is a better place because you’re in it. I hope you can remember that even when it’s tough, and that you’re around for a long time to come. ➡

- The Purity Test The test itself is a series of yes or no questions designed to determine how morally, ethically, and sexually pure you are. As you go through the test, you mark off each thing you've done. At the end of the test, you count up your answers, and figure out your percentage — the more you've done, the lower your final score, and the less 'pure' you are. ➡

Difficult Listening Hour 2020.06.06
Week sixteen of my unplanned, unrehearsed, seat-of-the-pants goofing around. As a way of getting back into practice and doing something regularly, I’ve started doing regular Twitch broadcasts, now on Saturday mid-mornings. These are the results. Anything goes.
